Create with Clay

Pink Class enjoyed their visit to the Shipley Art Gallery for their ‘Create with Clay’ workshop. After an initial explore around the galleries, we then headed down to the art studio to take a close look at some different ceramic containers.  We looked closely at how they were designed and what they were used for. We learned that all the containers would have been made originally with clay. We then headed back into the galleries to carry on our search for different containers and sketched four that we liked.  We then looked for inspiration around the gallery for designs for our containers. Back in the art studio we used clay to make the containers that we had designed.  We first had to create a sphere from our piece of clay and then use the ‘pinch and spin’ method to start to create our container.  Finally, we tools to add  designs or add extra pieces of clay. We created some amazing containers, including, cups, bowls, vases and trinkets!
