If Scarlet go down to the woods today ...
Scarlet Class were very lucky to have the opportunity to visit Kirkley Hall Woodlands today to continue our work with the Royal Forestry Society. We were welcomed back by Jess and took a trip down into the woods. Firstly, we completed a trail, finding all of the reasons why trees are so important for us and our planet. We also got to see some cute woodland bears on the way! Then, we completed some tree identification. We had to problem solve using all of the characteristics of the trees and finding them in the forest. Next, we learned how to work out the age of trees. We got to put our maths skills to work and measured the circumference and divided by a number (depending on the tree). Finally, we were able to make some habitats for some forest friends we might find in the woodlands. All in all, a very busy and productive day in the woods today.
Thank you to our lovely friends in Scarlet Class who took the role of photographer today - FC and SW!
